Dassault open Fablab in Paris

Dassault Systèmes, a world leader in 3D creation software and lifecycle management solutions products, announced the opening of its “3DEXPERIENCE Lab” in early November. The new lab is a fablab dedicated to innovation, which Dassault hope will allow them to accelerate the development of start-ups.

The “fablabs” (short for fabrication laboratory) are places which are open to the public that allow entrepreneurs, designers and students to take advantage of technical equipment (machine tools, etc.) that would otherwise be inaccessible.

Dassault Systèmes’ 3DExperience Lab will be accessible to only a handful of pre-selected start-ups, who will thus be able to access the platform and benefit from Dassault Systèmes’ experience in the form of mentoring. Dassault also confirmed that they would help in the design, manufacture, launch and development of products that will be produced as part of the laboratory.

Dassault state that this approach is thefruit of the company’s decision to adopt the concept of social enterprise, which aims to promote innovation, new experiments and entrepreneurship. Bernard Charles, president and CEO of Dassault Systèmes commented on the news, stating “Innovation is at the heart of what Dassault Systèmes is working to offer the world. We believe that the powerful capabilities of our 3DEXPERIENCE platform can help innovators create disruptive experiments which will have a positive influence on society. The 3DEXPERIENCE Lab provides greater resonance to the objective that we are pursuing within the collaborative economy by offering new ways to contribute to revolutionary projects, revealing talents and creating new spaces for interaction, but also promoting an open and creative corporate culture. “

Alongside the launch of the 3DExperience Lab, Dassault also announced the launch of the DS Foundation, which aims to realize innovation and transformation -related projects in various sectors: education, research, etc. This foundation is designed to benefit universities, research centres, museums, associations and other cultural centres.
