Alfa Laval TK20, a plate exchanger for refrigeration

Alfa Laval, the Swedish market leader in heat exchangers, has announced the launch of its TK20 model, a semi-welded gasketed plate heat exchanger designed for refrigeration applications. Alfa Laval claims that the product has been designed to be very efficient and reliable in the heating and cooling of aggressive media. The company announced that the TK20 gasketed plate exchanger was developed for applications with high refrigeration demands, which require very high energy efficiency: such as evaporators, condensers, desuperheaters, cascade systems. In addition, the company claim that the model is optimized for natural refrigerants, NH₃ and CO₂, for both high and low pressures. Alfa Laval state that the new exchanger boasts innovatively designed plates, which offer better flow distribution over the plate and also very low load losses in the heat exchange surface. All this features have been designed to try and improve heat transfer and energy efficiency. Other new innovative features of the model, according to the manufacturer, are the new gasket groove design, which should ensure maximum gasket support, as well as a patented heat exchange area that offers good fuel efficiency and a patented mounting method, which enables the gasket to be easily and securely attached.
