At the launch of the Hanover Fair, Angela Merkel stressed the importance of the artificial intelligence industry with the German Chancellor announcing that her government plans to take action to promote this sector.
Merkel officially opened this year’s event on Sunday the 22nd of April, the day before the opening of the fair which was held from April 22 to 27, 2018.
In her speech, she began by praising the positive dynamic in her country and its evolution towards Industry 4.0 before announcing that artificial intelligence would be an important part of the future and that her government will focus on the opportunities this technology could offer.
According to her statement at the Hanover fair, Germany will create centers of excellence and provide the necessary support for the development of artificial intelligence.
The main purpose of the Hannover Fair is to present the latest innovations in the digitized factory sector. Mrs Merkel also made a point of honoring the smart networks and real-time manufacturing processes.
More than 5,000 exhibitors from 75 countries attended the fair to discover cutting-edge advanced technology such as robots that can perform tasks and learn for themselves and innovations in e-mobility and artificial intelligence.
